Facility Management Professional (FMP) Credential Program offered this Winter in the Twin Cities!
Location: University of Minnesota's™ College of Continuing Education (at the St. Paul Campus)
Officially endorsed by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), this intensive program prepares you to earn the internationally-recognized Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential in just 8 weeks. This credential will aid you as you advance your career as a leader in facility management (FM). The full program includes four two-day courses: Operations and Maintenance (March 1-2), Project Management (March 15-16), Finance and Business Essentials (March 29-30), and Leadershiz and Strategy Essentials (April 12-13).
This program is designed for:
- Early- to mid-career facility management practitioners seeking enhanced knowledge and skills
- Individuals who are transitioning into the FM profession
- Related-industry practitioners such as architects, designers and safety engineers
- Facility-related product and service providers
- Students entering the profession from colleges, universities, certificate or technical programs
- Professionals who lack one or more knowledge areas to prepare for the Certified Facility Manager exam
- CFMs seeking more knowledge in these topics: gain 15 maintenance points towards recertification for each 2-day course
- Learners who value an in-person learning experience, including the interchange among class members
This series is being offered by the University of Minnesota's™ College of Continuing Education (at the St. Paul Campus), at a series cost of $2,890 ($2,600 for IFMA members), or $750 for a single course ($675 for IFMA members). The IFMA FMP Credential Program materials include an online FMP final assessment for each course. To earn the FMP credential, you must pass each of the four FMP final assessments with a score of 75% or higher. Once completed, you must submit an FMP application (with fee) to IFMA to validate your credential.
The FMP series will be taught by Sharon Harrington, CFM, IFMA Fellow. She spent 25 years in a variety of facility management roles at Medtronic and Network Systems Corp., including strategic planning, project management, construction (offices, labs, clean rooms, training centers, warehouses), site operations (including operations and maintenance, space planning and management, telecommunications, security, and administrative services), Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, and Lean Sigma and other customer- and operations-focused quality initiatives. She was responsible for planning, implementing, and managing staffing and site operations at Medtronic's™ new 500,000 SF World Headquarters campus. She has also held such IFMA leadership roles as chapter president, member of the International Board of Directors, and chair of local and international IFMA committees.
